About Diablo Dough

Hi, I’m Marissa — the baker, creative, and carb enthusiast behind Diablo Dough.

For years I worked in movie theater and retail management, but when the world shut down in 2020, I turned uncertainty into opportunity and co-founded a horror-inspired art business called AlethalWeaponArt with my best friend of over twenty years. Life took another turn when we moved to Rochester, MN, to help care for her brother after a devastating motorcycle accident. Between caregiving, art, and adjusting to a new home, I found myself craving something grounding — and that’s when I discovered the magic of baking.

It started with a humble jar of flour and water I named Sandra, my sourdough starter with a personality all her own. What started as an experiment quickly turned into an obsession — the scent, the rhythm, the rise — and before long, friends and family were begging to buy my loaves and treats.

For over a year, I told everyone, “I’m not professional enough to sell my baking.” Then life handed me a wake-up call — I fell, broke my jaw and teeth, and suddenly everything changed. I decided that this was my chance to turn my passion into something more. Within a week, I earned my Minnesota Cottage Food License, and Diablo Dough was born.

These days, my kitchen is my happy place — experimenting with flour, kneading dough, and crafting sourdough loaves, focaccia muffins, cookies, and other bakes that are devilishly delicious yet deeply comforting. Every batch begins with Sandra, a whole lot of love, and an unapologetic passion for creativity and carbs.

Diablo Dough is for the people who:

  • Appreciate the health benefits and flavor of real sourdough,

  • Love supporting local, small-batch makers,

  • Want unique, thoughtful gifts and meeting treats,

  • And maybe have a soft spot for spooky movies and playful puns.

Thank you for being here — it means the world to share something I love with my community. Because around here, wasting sourdough is a sin.
